Fire Door Control
1. Understanding Open-Stay and Closed-Stay Configuration
2. Panic Hardware Options
3. Door Closers and Coordinators
The options are plentiful, However.
We prefer Class A, B (iSO9001 European and SABS Approved brands), and Class C, SABS Approved locally sourced and rigourlessly tested products.
Always refer to the fire plan to ensure the correct hardware is ordered as it was Specified. Options to consider vary for single and double-door configurations. As it does for Doors in the “Open-Stay” vs “Closed-Stay” Position.*Minimum legal requirements are always an option, talk to us about alternative options and solutions.
Closed-Stay: Fire Doors kept in the “Closed” position with the application of a NON-Hold-Open Door Closer, are required to open outward with a single movement, without special knowledge, skill, or key. if Locking or latching is required. Panic Hardware must be expertly affixed. For Rebated double doors, the application of an SABS-approved mechanical door closer coordinator is required for an effective seal.
Open Stay: Fire Doors that are held in the “OPEN” position by an Electro-magnet or Electromechanical door coordinator are “released” on a signal from the fire alarm. These doors automatically close with the help of a Non-Hold-Open Door Closer. These doors are Not often fit with Panic Hardware. Double Doors with a rebate, require a coordinated close with the application of a Door Coordinator. Also available in Class A, B, or C. Each Class has an option for an Electromechanical coordinator that integrates with the Fire alarm, these offer an alternative to Hold-Open Magnets. Open Stay Configuration requires knowledge of the Fire alarm and property, Book a free survey to consider this configuration as a possible solution for you.
PANIC HARDWARE OPTIONS
Single Doors: 1, 2, and 3 point locking
Double Doors: 3 and 4-point locking. (Depending on the door rebate).
Outside Access Device: In Addition, options to grant and revoke access from the “outside” can be made possible by applying an Outside access device with a cylinder and key. This will allow the user to unlock the door during work hours, to be used for entry from both sides and locked in the evening while still allowing the internal Panic hardware to open the door in case of an emergency.
Non-Hold-Open Door Closer: Escape doors are fit with non-hold-open hydraulic door closers (surface mounted) or door springs for pivot doors. The closer /spring must be selected to withstand the forces and weight on the door. Browse our Panic Hardware Options HERE
DOOR CLOSER AND COORDINATOR OPTIONS
Also available in Class A, B, or C.
Door Closer: Hydraulic Door Closers are available in Surface mounted and concealed options. Variable strength and speed settings. Selected based on door size and weight. Browse our door closer options HERE
Coordinator: Available for Open-Stay and Closed Stay double door configuration. Each Class has an option for an Electromechanical coordinator that integrates with the Fire alarm. Coordinators work with door closers to ensure a sealed close for rebated doors. Electromechanical Coordinators offer an alternative to Hold-Open Magnets.
DOOR ARMOUR OPTIONS
Choices are available for 0.8mm to 1.3mm Stainless Steel. Prices vary based on Door Width and Height.
